MANIFESTO:
Works must be original, 1 of 1 only. Whoever holds it, knows they are the only ones with it, and forever will be, even if no one else knows they have it, or view it differently. No Prints or Copies ever allowed.
Works must comprise of only two colors. One being the background, and the other the foreground.
Works must be small in scale. Intimacy is key to unlock the curiosity.
Works must be described or titled using two, and only two words. Viewer has to create their own two words from self discovery, but leads to the simplicity of its complexity while maintaining evoke memory.
Works must be lines, shapes, or emptiness in voids to create self discovery for the viewer.
Works must be 100% free hand by human. No stencils, rails, mapping or modern technique. Simply the medium of paper and single drawing utensil. For humans, by humans.
Works must be done without correcting a mistake. Life’s path moves forward without us going back in time to fix it. If a mistake is made by the artist, a new path is now taken.
Works may only be sold in pass, a strict five time limit. Back of works must include boxes of transactions, with S.A.L. symbol. If works are given by the artist, first box is blank. Most works are sold direct, as first box will be marked from the artist- allowing only four more sales through the works history. Upon the last transaction, and mark of all the boxes complete, the beholder is forever endowed with the work and can no longer be sold.
Works collected, with all 5 boxes complete, accompanied with 5 works from the same artist also being fully complete; shall submit letter to living artist or estate of proof acknowledgment and be rewarded with a preternatural gift representing all 10 words from the 5 works directly from the artist or estate of past artists.
Strict Abstract Linearism
Strict Abstract Linearism-
THE GOAL:
With the human movement accelerating into the world of computing power, and magnificent capabilities of man, we loose the value in our own creative journey.
Works completed by masters in their craft over decades of relentless commitment, now seem void to what machine can do. A walk through the worlds great Galleries and Museums behold craftsmanship that now seems lost upon us.
Failure to journey down a path into the unknown, we no longer relate to the discipline of craftsmanship, and cannot transfer it into our own world. Everything seems out of touch, and the why bother syndrome sets in to hinder that jumping step.
Strict Abstract Linearism created by OTIS is meant to spark new thought for the art world going forward. To make art approachable to all, and to forever connect art to our human path. Rules are strict, but when applied together the human connectivity encompasses eternity.
New works should be benign, which allow anyone to pick up a pen or pencil and draw on their own to spark self creativity. All of us hold an artistic ability, and should journey down a path to discover it.
A connection back to humanity, knowing the works were 100% created by human hand. Life is not perfect, make mistakes, have it be authentic to the journey. AI and machining is the easy way out, anything of value never came easy. Connect art back to human hand made mediums.
Joy in simplicity. Only allowing a background and foreground color to be used, makes it more impactful to those colors, lines, shapes, and voids. Think of it more or less as day time verse night time as the background to our lives. The time and color of day or darkness of night is the living background to our own human foreground. Of which the foreground represents an expression of freedom felt, captured in a moment of light energy.
Original is key. No prints, or copies allowed. Let the works journey out in to the world and be one of one. For the collector, knowing that you hold the only copy of the work is huge. It helps connect the beholder to the artist. Especially if the works are gifts, with the first S.A.L. box being empty, creates a true connection of beholder to the artist. What is humanity without connection? Humans to humans is the goal of art and expressing ones self, without that direct connection to the artist or feeling thereof, art looses meaning. Be present, be connected, and the artist is indelibly connected to the works beholder.
Works must remain small in scale. Bring us back down to earth, come in close and focus our attention in one view. Think how the artist viewed, rotated, and made the work. It’s a connection to see it from how the artist saw it. Why would one want to be intimate from far away, I think many of us would agree intimacy and connection hold the most joy up close.
Less is more. Let the artist title the work with only two words, and leave it up to the beholder to focus a description with just two words. Makes it approachable. Gives the beholder the opportunity to express their meaning without pressure or complexity, yet at the same time focuses it to be complex and meaningful on an unexpected level.
The absolute and most important part of the movement, is how the works are aloud to be transferred. The most impactful, and the rarest form is when the works are direct gifts from the Artist to the beholder. On the back of every work, the S.A.L. symbol and 5 boxes of transfer are clear. When the first box is empty, it represents a direct connection to the artist, the ultimate in acknowledgement. When the works are sold, the boxes must be filled out by the seller. Once the last box is filled, the work may never leave that beholder.
If a collector accumulates 5 works by the same artist, where all 5 boxes are filled, and thus beholder is forever the keeper, they can send proof to the artist for an inimitable gift direct from the living artist or their estate as respect to the discipline of connection and respect for the movement. Gift will reflect significance from the 10 descriptive words across the 5 works. Eternally in pursuit of everlasting human connection from the beholder back to the works creator.
What is voice without meaning behind it? What is talk with no action? Humans hold honor and meaning of credibility, do not doubt this trait within all of us. It takes a lifetime to build trust, and only a few seconds to destroy it. Be the model of humanity amongst every one of us to take responsibility, mean what you say, and carry weight to your honor. Or don’t and live forever in a void without honor or meaning, and loose value to the greatest gift all of us hold, as life it self.
If we fail to think outside the box, we will forever live inside of one, and it is one of which you did not create. Be your creator, be connected, and be a model for the rest of humans.
